Monitoring and controlling remote pumping stations need not be a difficult task, but end-users are often using overly complicated equipment to do a simple job, says Guy Fitzpatrick of ITT Water and Wastewater. The monitoring and control of sewage pumps, storm pumps and dewatering pumps in remote pumping stations is a critical task within the water industry. These small to medium sized pumping stations may be out of sight, but they are rarely out of mind because the failure of remote equipment can severely impact operational efficiency and, at worst, cause catastrophic failure and environmental crises.
