Roller conveyors have one bad habit. They can only send bottles, cartons and packages in one direction - forward. Until now, that is. Adrian Marshall at Crafty Tech has developed the first steerable roller conveyor. It can steer sideways - left and right - as well as forwards. Integrated into a conventional powered roller conveyor line, the steerable roller bed can be used to route products on demand. At the flick of a switch, products coming down the line can be made to go left or right or to diverge or converge. Wander can be corrected, and products can be forced to one side of the conveyor ready for spiral freezer loading, for example.
