摘要

Plant secondary metabolism products are used extensively for their health promoting properties. Moreover, plant extracts from specific plant species have been used as pesticides or fungicides to control pests and diseases in sustainable agriculture. The obvious potential is even greater if their production become more efficient in strict economical terms. Biotechnology gives us the opportunity to engineer microorga' nisms to produce such natural compounds.
