Chilean navy Aviation Museum

Along-held dream came to fruition when the Museo de la Aviacion Naval de Chile (Chilean Navy Aviation Museum) was inaugurated on March 15, 2003 at Base Aeronaval Vina del Mar, Camino International Airport, Concon, north of Valparaiso. The event formed part of the celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of Aviacion Naval - Chile's naval air arm. The museum's origins date back to the end of the 1970s when the Chilean Navy began to preserve some of its retired aircraft at El Belloto Naval Air Base in Ouilpue. These were the Bell 47G, Douglas C-47H, Beech D18S, Beech T-34 Mentor and a Sikorsky SH-34J. Wherever possible, the aircraft selected for exhibition has been the first model operated of each type.
