On a recent visit to California I paid a return visit to one of the most fascinating restaurants I have ever come across. 'The Proud Bird' is located on Aviation Boulevard about one mile outside Los Angeles Airport and owned by David Tallichet, the doyen of historic aircraft buffs. Thanks to the kind offices of a mutual friend, David Crow, one time Chairman of the East Anglia Aviation Society, I met and had lunch at the restaurant with David, and what an interesting and entertaining gentleman he is. The restaurant has been a popular feature of the Los Angeles social scene for over 35 years. It was named after Continental Airlines, which at the time was operating from Los Angeles, and known as 'The Proud Bird with the Golden Tail'.
