Spitfire flight for Alex Henshaw

Newly-restored Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9 161 (G-CCCA) was officially launched to the press on March 23, when John Romain took former Castle Bromwich chief test-pilot Alex Henshaw for a flight in the two-seat trainer. The event was held at the Historic Flying Limited/Aircraft Restoration Company hangar complex at Duxford, Cambs. Alex was airborne in the 'Spit' for around 15 minutes, during which time he was allowed to take control. It was an emotional moment for the 92-year-old, who first flew a Spitfire 66 years ago!
