After many years on static display, two extremely rare warbirds will soon be back in the air over Southern California. The Boeing P-26A 'Peashooter' and the Republic AT-12A Guardsman form part of the 'Planes of Fame' collection at Chino and are the only remaining flyable examples of their type in the world. Although many of the collection's aircraft are flyable, for one reason or another some have not been airborne for a long time. As the museum enters its 50th year, the board of directors have decided to make the 'Fighter Command' theme of the 2006 event, planned for the weekend of May 20-21, even more memorable by putting two of its oldest and rarest 'warbirds' back into action.
