Hurricane Force

Many of the images in the album now in Iain's possession relate to the escort carrier, HMS Vindex. Launched in early 1943, this was a dramatic conversion ofrnthe British-registered merchant vessel Port Sydney. Surviving many operational voyages, Vindex reverted to civilian life in 1947, becoming the Port Vindex, plying the world's oceans until the earlyrn1970s.
