In a British military cemetery on the island of Cyprus lies a young German, a long way from his homeland. The date on the gravestone says that Lothar Rohrich was killed on February 3,1944.Born in Kassel, Germany on September 23,1920, Lothar managed a brief 23 years of life. How is it that his last resting place was on an island in the Mediterranean? Like many of his age, Lothar found himself joining the German armed forces after the outbreak of war in September 1939. He began his flying training in April 1941 and by the start of the following year, was initiated as a reconnaissance pilot.
