Biggin Hill's International Air Fair celebrated the RAF's 90th anniversary, but made sure that most other tastes were also catered for. Staged on June 7/8 at the famous Battle of Britain airfield near London, the show had a good mix of modern and historic types, and took in the full sweep of aviation from the early pioneers to today's frontline combat types, including the Eurofighter Typhoon and the impressive RAF airpower role demonstration. The early days of flying were represented by Mikael Carlson flying his original Bleriot XI, a licence-built example manufactured in Sweden in 1910 and powered by an original seven-cylinder 1908 Gnome rotary.
