Staggerwing for Sweden

Beech 'Staggerwing'NC2801 has recently arrived in Sweden from its former home in Seattle, Washington. The airworthy classic is now owned by Jon Roth of Vintage Aeroplanes Europe, who will base it near Malmo, in southern Sweden. Famous industrialist Henry du Pont, of Wilmington, Delaware, purchased this civilian F17-D model new from thi Wichita factory for his personal use in 1939, shortly after he founded the Atlantic Aviation Corporation. Like many other civilian Staggerwings, it was impressed into military service during World War Two and to this day still retains several Army modifications, including its fuselage flare tubes.
