A full-scale mock-up of a Junkers Ju 87 'Stuka' has gone on display outside the Aviation Heritage Centre at Omaka, near Blenheim, New Zealand. Constructed by a team of local engineers and enthusiasts led by Lester Hope, the aircraft's structure is made primarily of wood and clad with commercial grade aluminium; it also incorporates a number of 'real' parts, including a propeller.rnAlthough currently unfinished, the reproduction made its public debut at the 2003 Classic Fighters Airshow, appearing in a Luftwaffe North Africa colour scheme. In keeping with the Italian theme of the 2009 Classic Fighters Airshow, thern'Stuka' was hastily sprayed the day before the show in the colours of the Picchiatello; the name the Italians gave the type in Regia Aeronautica service. Eventually the team hopes to fit a Jaguar V-12 to enable it to taxi during future airshow appearances.
