Silver Dart Flies In Canada

On a frosty February 6, Silver Dart replica C-IIGY flew at John C Munro International Airport in Hamilton, Ontario. The reproduction was built by the Aerial Experiment Association 2005 team to help celebrate the Canadian centenary of flight. Astronaut Dr Bjarni Tryggvason piloted the replica on it test hop, claiming "it was the biggest challenge of my career".rnThe final preparation work for the modern Silver Dart was carried out in the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum hangar at Hamilton by the dedicated team of AEA 2005 volunteers. Using the call-sign Dart One, it undertook a number of taxi trials on the apron and then proceeded to the main runway at Hamilton for a couple of 'high speed' runs. After returning to the hangar for some fine tuning, it returned to the runway and proceeded to make six flights.
