Despite the best efforts of museum volunteers, extremely heavy snowfall caused considerable damage to some exhibits at the Canadian Museum of Flight at Langley, British Columbia, in late December. Hardest hit was the collection's HP Hampden I P5436. Workers clearing the rapidly-accumulating snow from the bomber's wings were overwhelmed during the night of December 26, and as a result of the weight, the port wing failed. It separated from the fuselage and collapsed onto an adjacent display case containing one of the original engines.
