Cosford's Wellington

Staff at the Michael Beetham Conservation Centre (MBCC) at the RAF Museum Cosford in Shropshire, is making good progress on its long-term restoration of Vickers Wellington T.10 MF628. Its geodetic fuselage structure, designed by Sir Barnes Wallis, is now visible, the fabric covering having been removed due to its rapidly deteriorating condition. The extensive conservation work on the structure is expected to continue for another four to five years. Although not normally accessible to the public, MBBC does have occasional Open Weeks in which visitors can see the Wellington and other conservation projects at close hand, and talk to the staff.
