Pit Off Tim Elkington was with 134 Squadron during the deployment to Arctic Russia in August 1941. The pilots travelled to the White Sea on board the aircraft carrier HMS /Argus along with 24 Hurricanes. Tim and his compatriots had never been on a carrier, let alone flown off one. He kept a copy of the take-off brief and it appears here in full. In the event, the launch was pretty much a success.
