John Golley's 1987 book Hurricanes over Murmansk is a thorough review of the deployment. It is well covered in a chapter of Ray Holmes' 1989 Sky Spy - he wasa pilot on 81 Squadron, one of the two that made up the Wing. Marshal of the Royal Air Force Lord Cameron (in 1941 a very newly-minted Pilot Officer on the Wing's other squadron, 134) also gives the story a telling in a chapter of his • In the Midst of Things (1986). There is a terrific feeling of 'togetherness' among the veterans: they have retained contact within the framework of an RAF Russia Association. Their personal memoirs are being carefully collected and put into written record by Percy Durham; the Wing's archivist.
