Just reading through the February issue and came across the article about the Hawker Demons. I was amazed to see that the restored example is in the markings of 64 Squadron, Church Fenton, circa 1938. My father remembers seeing them flying around this area (Sherburn-in-Elmet) at the time when he was a young boy of six or seven, and he attended the Empire Air Day Display at Fenton in 1937 with his father - he remembers seeing Gladiators flying in formation at the show. My father went on to do part of his National Service at RAF Church Fenton back in the 1950s, so the place has lots of memories for him.
