Tempsford in Bedfordshire must be one of the most interesting airfields of World War Two, as it was home to the Special Operations Executive and 'secret' flying units, such as 138 Squadron. The work carried out from the area included dropping agents behind enemy lines and arms supply runs to the resistance forces in Europe - the stuff of legends. This new tome on the airfield is split into seven chapters, covering the history of Tempsford, its construction, its crews, squadrons, secret ops, life at the station and what happened after the war. Highly recommended.
