Illinois-based Midwest Aero Restorations has been rolling out award-winning North American Mustangs for the past decade, and its latest effort, P-5 ID Live Bait, assured a perfect record with the judges at EAA's AirVenture 2010 at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Midwest's Mike Vadeboncoeur described the achievement: "No other restoration facility can claim that kind of success. It speaks volumes about the dedication and professionalism of the people I have working for me." Manufactured in Inglewood, California, in mid-1944, P-51D-25-NA 44-73343 was delivered to the USAAF, but did not make the Atlantic crossing. Instead the Mustang was assigned to Stateside units, where it served in a number of roles before being surplused in 1957.
