Vietnam B-52 to be restored

Restoration work on the Barksdale, Louisiana-based Eighth Air Force Museum's Boeing B-52D Stratofortress 56-0629 has begun. A veteran of Vietnam, the bomber was accepted by the USAF in october 1957.lt was hit by a surface-to-air missile over Duc Noi, north of Hanoi, on December 18,1972. New sheet metal is currently being riveted onto the wings while areas of corrosion are scraped away. Primer and paint are now also being applied to the fuselage.
