FlyPast readers in the south of England may have observed a lone Hawker Hurricane scurrying through the skies on September 15 this year. Taking-off from the famous former fighter airfield at Biggin Hill, its mission was to commemorate Battle of Britain Day by overflying the Kent airfields that played such an important role in 'Britain's finest hour'. The aircraft was Hawker Hurricane AE977 (N33TF), part of Dan and Tom Friedkins' extensive Comanche Fighters warbird collection, which was shipped to the UK earlier this year from its base in Texas.
