Farnborough marks RFC 100th

RAF BE.2c reproduction G-AWYI landed at Farnborough, Hants, on April 12 to mark the centenary of the formation of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Aircraft Factory on this historic airfield. Positioned in front of the two remaining black-painted hangars - which themselves date back 100 years - the aircraft represented over 1,700 of its type built at Farnborough and in other factories around Britain. Also still standing is the building now named Trenchard House after the 'Father of the Royal Air Force', Sir Hugh Trenchard.
