"It was a beautiful day. I flew the Hurricane in the afternoon and about two hours later I flew the Spitfire, in a crystal clear blue sky at 6 o'clock in the evening. We have five Spitfires and I flew the silver Mk.IX. It was Thursday April 5, and since it was the evening before Good Friday, very few people seemed to want to fly, so we had the airfield and the airspace to ourselves; and there was a benign wind, blowing 10 knots down the strip, with no crosswind.'
