Years of patient diplomacy and hard work by UK-based individuals seemsrnto have paid off handsomely with the news that up to 20 unused Supermarine Spitfires may well be recovered from their burial site in Burma. The political hurdles - which threatened to scupper this amazing project - appear to have been cleared.rnRecovering them won't be easy though, and at this stage it's impossible to say what condition they will be in. But if the 1945-buift fighters can be brought to the surface, they offer the prospect of a squadron's worth of potential restoration/overhaul projects. This is great and exciting turn of events, and we wish all those involved the best of luck.
