Fantasy of Flight boss Kermit Weeks will soon be flying Stinson L-1 Vigilant 40-3102 in Florida skies following a total rebuild to stock configuration. Obtained in the 1980s from the Tallmantz Movieland of the Air Museum, the L-1 was a regular flyer until damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Restoration work began four years later. The latter proved to be time consuming and challenging due to difficulties with the spot-welded stainless steel control surfaces and the lack of an illustrated parts manual, which was never published for the L-1.
