Covering the events that took place in the early part of the 'Cold War', this book presents a personal reflection on an era that will be remembered as a shadowy and worrying time for civilisation. With both East and West heavily armed, the idea of nuclear deterrence seemed like utter madness to some. It came to be referred to as Mutually Assured Destruction, or 'MAD' for short. The author piloted and instructed in both the major Boeing jet bombers of the day, the B-47 Stratojet and the B-52 Stratofortress.
