A Test Pilot's Confession

Hero of the Soviet Union Valery Valentinovich Migunov was born in 1936 in Kharkov, Ukraine. In 1957 he graduated from the Chkalov High Aviation School for Pilots at Orenburg. He served in regular Soviet Air Force units until 1962 when he became a fighter pilot instructor at Kharkov High Aviation School for Pilots. From 1969 to 1990 Migunov worked at the Air Force Scientific Research Institute (NII VVS) in Akhtubinsk at first as a regular test pilot until he was promoted to Head of the 1st Department. He mastered more than 60 types and actively participated in MiG-29 testing.
