Starring role for ARC'S Spitfire

Duxford-based Supermarine Spitfire Tr.IX G-CCCA has been transported to Sakhir air base in the Kingdom of Bahrain for a starring role at the Bahrain International Airshow on January 16-18. The immaculate twin-seater, part of the Aircraft Restoration Company's airworthy fleet, is due back at Duxford in late February. The Spitfire was disassembled in November and shipped to Bahrain, arriving at its destination after a 31-day trip in late December. It was then moved by road to Sakhir and reassembled by ARC engineers. The World War Two fighter was subsequently test flown by John Romain on January 15, and made ready for its show appearance the following day.
