Dunkirk Spitfire airborne again at Duxford

Supermarine Spitfire la N3200 made its first flight in the hands of Aircraft Restoration Company boss John Romain on March 26 following an extensive rebuild at Duxford. The Spitfire's fuselage was reconstructed at Airframe Assemblies on the Isle of Wight. It was delivered to Historic Flying Limited (HFL) at Duxford on December 15, 2011, and underwent further restoration. The wings were reconstructed at HFL, and the paint scheme was researched and applied using a large number of original images of the aircraft as reference. The Rolls-Royce Merlin engine was overhauled by Retro Track and Air in Gloucestershire, which also built the propeller. The Spitfire is fitted with an unusual rear view mirror, manufactured at HFL to match the original machine.
