Few British airshow venues can better Shoreham Airport. Its South Downs location, with the chapel of Lancing College providing a majestically imposing backdrop, is characteristic of the best of summer aeronautical entertainment. New flying display director Rod Dean is working hard to put together some special showpieces for 2014, a year that sees Shoreham marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day as its main theme. The traditional airfield attack and 'scramble' scenario will be reversed and modified to reflect the D-Day anniversary, with suitable British and American fighters this time attacking a German airfield and its defending fighters, and C-47 Skytrains in the mix too. Backing all this up will be pyrotechnics and other ground activities.
