摘要

The last operational Gipsy-powered de Havilland Heron, originally XM296, was delivered late last year to a new owner in Bolivia. It had previously been based in Oregon in the US. The aircraft was built at Hatfield as a Heron CC.4 for The Queen's Flight and was delivered in April 1958. It passed to RAF Germany in 1968 where it was later used as a VIP transport by 60 Squadron. Four years later it was converted to C.4 specification for the Royal Navy, which used it until 1992. Registered as G-BVBI, it was stored at Staverton until being sold to the US as N820 in 1996. Flying with Happy Miles of Albany, Oregon, in 2007, it retained its basic Fleet Air Arm 'Admiral's Barge' colour scheme.
