Swedish Hawker Hart being rebuilt to fly in UK

A rare Swedish Hawker Hart is being restored to fly by Hawker Restorations in Suffolk. The two-seater, designated B4A in Swedish Air Force service, is being rebuilt for Swedish collector Joakim Westh and was previously with Retrotec in East Sussex. The Swedish variant was powered by a Bristol Mercury radial, which gave it a very different appearance to the standard Rolls-Royce Kestrel-engined type used by the RAF. The Hart, which ended its flying service as a target tug with F17 at Kallinge, Sweden, has been allocated the civil registration G-CIAJ. Hawker Restorations boss Tony Ditheridge estimates the project will take two years to complete.
