Capt Eric 'Winkle' Brown remembered at Yeovilton

An event was held at RNAS Yeovilton on July 21 to commemorate Capt Eric 'Winkle' Brown, one of the most celebrated aviators and accomplished test pilots of all time, who died earlier this year, aged 97. As a Royal Navy test pilot, he flew a record 487 different types of aircraft, including gliders, fighters, bombers and helicopters, thereby playing a key role in the design and development of an entire generation of aircraft. He also holds the world record for the most aircraft carrier take-offs and landings, 2,271 and 2,407 respectively.
