De Havilland Mosquito prototype rolled out

By the time FlyPast is on sale, the de Havilland Aircraft Museum (DHAM) at London Colney, Herts, will have celebrated the 75th anniversary of the maiden flight of Mosquito prototype W4050. Project manager Bob Glasby detailed the machine's restoration in From the Workshop in our May and December 2015 issues. The precious prototype has been exactingly returned to how it would have looked during the final phase of its flying career, in the first half of 1943. Grounded later that year, W4050's survival was assured in 1958 when it returned to Salisbury Hall, London Colney, where it had been built. There it became the 'founder member' of what became the DHAM - the oldest pure aviation museum in the UK.
