Wittering centenary memorial unveiled

A new memorial was unveiled at Wittering, Cambs, on May 5 to mark the RAF station's centenary. It was formally dedicated in a service at All Saints church. Crafted entirely of stone the memorial is dedicated to all those from the base and the village who have lost their lives due to war. ACM Sir Stephen Hillier, Chief of the Air Staff, joined personnel from RAF Wittering, members of Wittering Parish Council and residents of the village at the service. Former station commanders including AVM Richard Knighton and Air Cdre Damian Alexander were also in attendance.
