The September issue included an article about Buccaneer XV344. On June 28,1984 I flew with pilot Terry Adcock in XV344, a flight which stands out in my memory for the following reasons. It was my first flight in a Buccaneer, and my last in the RAF. At 440kts and 250ft we were flying along very smoothly into the West Country when we hit a large bird and scuttled back to Farnborough. Was this a second major bird strike after that mentioned in the article? Also, I believe that while undergoing major work at Cranfield, provision was made for a second stick - this is not mentioned in the feature. As far as I can recall that second stick was never fitted. They were happy days!
