The team behind the restoration of Columbine Ⅱ, the Lockheed VC-121A Constellation that President Dwight D Eisenhower used during his early years in office, is making good progress at Dynamic Aviation's base in Bridgewater, Virginia, US. The aircraft was rescued by the company's founder Karl Stoltzfus in March 2015. Having spent decades languishing in harsh, desert conditions in Arizona, the machine was meticulously prepared for flight, and successfully landed at its new home in March 2016. The Constellation (48-0610) was then taken apart - panels and redundant internal systems were removed, and around 50 years of accumulated grime was washed away.
