Sheltering from the Luftwaffe

The August issue gave a fascinating insight into many aspects of the Battle of Britain that I have not seen covered in other publications. The timeline was of great interest as it mentioned the bombing of the Vauxhall Motors plant in my hometown of Luton, which took place on two occasions in August 1940.I remember my late mother describing how she'd watched the raid with her sister from the factory they were working at about one mile away.The strange aspect is that the SKFco ball bearing factory, less than two miles from the Vauxhall plant and incidentally, the only factory in the Luton area heavily outlined in black on the Luftwaffe map of Luton, was never deliberately bombed at any time during the war.
