Eyes covered, a young boy - no more than three or four - laughs as he tries to identify a model aeroplane by touch alone. "Spitfire!" he exclaims. "Yes, that's right," says his father, who whittled this set of wooden miniatures during his own childhood. "Now, what about this one?" "Corsair!" the excited boy squeals. "That's right too," chuckles his father… It was obvious that Mark Hanna was going to be a pilot. From identifying toy wartime fighters to flying the real things with Old Flying Machine Company (OFMC), Mark's life was almost wholly directed by his love for aviation. He'd go on to fly more than 100 different types. It helped of course that his father was Ray, former leader of the Red Arrows and every bit as dedicated as his son. But Mark was very much his own man, an inspirational leader, a prodigiously gifted airman, an ambitious businessman and perhaps above all, a very decent human being.
