The team at Sywell-based Ultimate Warbird Flights has announced the formation of the Ultimate Fighters display team. It comprises a Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, North American TF-51D Mustang, Supermarine Spitfire Tr.lX and a Hispano Buchón (also see feature, starting on page 60). "We were inspired by the [Old Flying Machine Company] Breitling Fighters and the Flying Legends 'balbo', along with the desire to do something different," the team's Richard Grace told FlyPast. the Northamptonshire-based outfit has created its own showcase demonstrating the four aircraft in a carefully choreographed routine. The pilots have many years of aerobatic experience between them, with Jon Gowdy and Andy Durston having performed with the FireFlies, and Richard and Dave Puleston flying for the Trig team. "We are all good friends and share a passion for aviation," says Andy.
