Embraer Speeds Pace of Legacy 500 Development

Embraer was nearly finished building die first of four flight-test airplanes late last year when unforeseen software problems related to the fly-by-wire flight control system delayed the Legacy 500's planned first flight. The company blamed the delay on supplier Parker Aerospace, which it said wasn't equipped to handle full software integration of die advanced control system. Embraer responded by involving a team of its own engineers and those from BAE Systems to take over integration tasks from Parker, which is now responsible solely for fly-by-wire hardware.
