FLYING EYES GET GRADIENT TINT

While there are people with missing limbs and complete hearing loss that are capable of flying, vision is a necessity for pilots. In the cockpit we are exposed to strong ultraviolet rays that have the potential to damage the eyes. It is therefore a good idea to protect the eyes during flight by wearing sunglasses. The glasses must be dark enough to protect the eyes from the damaging rays, but they must also allow enough light in to enable us to read charts and LCD screens. Austin, Texas-based Flying Eyes has just released a new lens, which fits into its frames, which are specifically designed to fit under a headset. The new lenses feature gradient tint, which means that the upper portion of the lens is dark, protecting the eyes from the sun almost like a visor on a hat, while the lower portion is a lighter tint to allow the pilot to see better in the darker environment of the cockpit.
