Daher-Socata has entered a partnership to design, develop and certify the E-Fan 2.0 - an all-electric airplane announced by Airbus Group's VoltAir subsidiary last summer. The basic design for the E-Fan 2.0 is a two-seat airplane targeted for the flight training market, and it is one component in the plans for a full line of aircraft ranging up to Airbus airliners powered fully or partially by electric power plants. As part of its partnership with VoltAir, Daher-Socata will also design and build the electric motor and batteries that will power the E-Fan 2.0. In addition, the company will work with the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) to define the operational rules for ab initio training. Daher-Socata is well suited for these projects as it has certified and delivered more than 2,000 Rallye and TB training airplanes and more than 700 TBM single-engine turboprops.
