It is not too early to begin thinking about the 2004 contest schedule, and the first of the year is the Southwest Regionals Model Airplane Championships near Eloy, AZ―January 17, 18, 19, 2004. This will be the 54th offering of the contest which has AMA/SAM/NFFS Free Flight (a NFFS National Cup Contest); FAI Free Flight (America's Cup Contest and Finals Qualifier); and SAM RC Old Timers all flown just off Toltec Road about half way between Phoenix and Tucson, AZ. Freeflight will be flown Saturday and Sunday, R/C Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There is a tremendous list of events in each of the three categories. Sad to report ROW will not be offered―the rubber blanket sprung a not too easy to repair leak and it was dropped.
