When Tony Peters first told me I had "volunteered" to do an article exploring the uses of computers in modeling, I was reminded of Gandalf s (you know, the wizard in the Lord of the Rings) observation: "There are as many arguments as there are wizards." (Well, he didn't actually say that, but he should have.) When considering using some form of Computer-Aided Design ("CAD" for short) program, there are enough variables and options in available systems to fill a "For Dummies" book, and the systems are changing all the time.
