Since this is the Wright Centennial Year, it's only proper that we start with a Wright Flyer. Art Valland's model is, as Tony Peters says, "A leave-your-glasses-home" scale model. It spans 44 inches, weighs 5(1/2) ounces empty, uses a 2-cell 560 mAh Lithium battery driving two GWS-LPS-B2C motors geared 6:1 and wired in parallel. Props are 8-4 and contra-rotating. The model is covered with Solite off-white, which weighs only 0.6 oz/meter. Tony Peters did the pilot, and flights are 30 minutes or more. Both front and rear controls operate and the model flies so slowly you can almost walk under it. Art has been one of the main innovators at our Teaneck Armory facility bringing lots of amusing and fascinating airplanes to light.
