Jake Larson returns with an interesting Albatros CIII from Clarke Smiley. I'm starting the column with this model to illustrate why so many of Jake's models come out so well and fly like contest jobs. You see, Jake prepares the kits very carefully before covering. Now, I confess I have often tried to hide small blemishes with careful and colorful covering but this is obviously wrong. Careful cutting, construction and sanding is the correct answer and no amount of "fix-up" can hide less than thorough prep work. Study Jake's wing construction. No bumps, no gaps and the strut bases are already installed. Way to go Jake! The top wing span is 21 inches, bottom is 17 inches. Flying weight is 40 grams.
