In a verdant valley in the Finger Lakes region of the Empire State, only 25 miles south of Rochester, New York lies HAG Field, truly the Field of Dreams for Flying Aces freeflighters from the USA and Canada's nearly 50 FAC Squadrons. It is just down the road from the "Tired Iron" Tractor Museum and but four miles from the Geneseo NY Days Inn-the FAC HQ motel for this event over three days. The judging was July 18 with flying July 19 and 20 before the grand finale Awards Banquet at the motel. This was the "real deal" for flyers who prefer F/F. HAG Field? A mile square of mown grass bordered by a grass runway capable of supporting the Memphis Belle B-17G-a visiting restored Warbird (not the original) and regular Warbird Adventures Inc. passenger flights on a pair of AT-6 and SNJ Texans. Historic Aviation Group (HAG) owns the field, leasing model-eating farmland on the perimeter. There is no longer a Warplane Mu-seum (moved to Elmira) but the frequent Warbird flying made a great background for model flying under azure skies.
