Laird Solution Revisited

This Cox .049 powered 12-inch wingspan profile Laird Solution was built to compete in what had been the SAM. NX-211 Golden Age Thompson Trophy Races, and which is still held annually in St. Louis. My earlier S.A.M, models had been nearly true scale models with bulky built-up fuselages that were outclassed in the speed dashes. This Laird design is of one of the biplane racers, and it has been built to the minimum wingspan allowed for biplanes and with a profile fuselage. It was thought that the model's very small size and light weight would make it competitive with the models that have been winners in previous years.
